The concept of discrepancy in motivating change refers to the gap between a person’s current state and their desired future state. When this discrepancy becomes large enough, it often triggers the decision to change behavior, adopt new habits, or pursue different goals. Several factors contribute to creating this discrepancy, which ultimately pushes a person toward change.
